Set across a row of Victorian townhouses near Notting Hill Gate, The Laslett feels more like part of the neighbourhood than a separate hotel inside it. British art, mid-century furniture, books and softer materials give the rooms a warmth that feels collected gradually over time rather than carefully styled all at once. Downstairs, much of the ground floor fills with locals drifting in from around Notting Hill Gate rather than hotel guests arriving from elsewhere. By evening, the whole building settles into the same quieter pace as the streets outside.
The Portobello Hotel still carries traces of the older, more bohemian Notting Hill that first made the neighbourhood famous.
Set near Stanley Gardens, The Portobello Hotel has long been tied to the music, fashion and creative history of West London. The rooms lean fully into that atmosphere, antique furniture, eccentric details, heavier fabrics and layouts that feel slightly different each time you open a door. There is very little formality to the place, which is largely why it works. Breakfast drifts late into the morning, guests disappear into the honesty bar at night, and much of the building still feels more like a large private house than a polished London hotel.
Mason & Fifth sits just beyond Notting Hill, offering more space and a noticeably calmer version of West London.
Set inside the former London Taxi Drivers’ headquarters near Westbourne Park, Mason & Fifth feels built more around living than short hotel stays. Apartments, workspaces, wellness rooms and larger communal spaces give the building a slower, more residential atmosphere from the outset. Notting Hill and Portobello Road still sit nearby, but returning here feels noticeably quieter once the crowds thin out later in the day. Downstairs, Canal keeps the building connected to local life, while the listening lounge, cinema room and rooftop spaces make it easy to spend far longer here than originally planned.
